How each one is taken
- Mounjaro (tirzepatide): One injection a week. A pen holds four doses, so one pen is about a month.
- Wegovy (semaglutide): One injection a week. A FlexTouch pen holds four doses, so one pen is about a month.
- Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide): One tablet a day. Prices are for a monthly pack.
- Foundayo (orforglipron): One tablet a day, with or without food. Prices are for a monthly pack.
All four are prescription only. The pharmacy asks you to fill in a medical form and a prescriber decides what you can have.

Which is cheapest, Mounjaro or Wegovy?
At the starting dose Mounjaro 2.5mg is £88.00 and Wegovy 0.25mg is £44.00. At the top dose Mounjaro 15mg is £219.00 and Wegovy 7.2mg is £169.00. Prices move through the day, so check the live tables.
Is the Wegovy pill cheaper than the injection?
The lowest Wegovy pill price is £53.00 for 1.5mg and the lowest Wegovy pen price is £44.00 for 0.25mg. A pill pack covers a month and a pen covers four weeks, so the two are close to a like-for-like monthly cost.
Can I switch from one to another?
Only with a prescriber. Each medicine has its own step-up schedule, and a prescriber decides the dose you start on when you change.
Which of these are on the NHS?
Mounjaro and Wegovy injections are available on the NHS for some patients through specialist and GP services. The Wegovy pill and Foundayo are not available on the NHS at present.
